For this composition I used the element of surprise using nostalgia. When thinking about the emotion surprise, one's mind is drawn to surprise birthday parties as a child. Using a bold red background, I draw the viewer in. The colors cyan, magenta, yellow and green contrast against the background, which sharply strikes the eye. Sporadically putting the rectangular figures on the page, I rotate some of the rectangles to create change. The larger, darker red rectangle coming from the corner of the page gives the illusion of a tube where the confetti is popping out of; just like a sweet, unexpected surprise.
